Sekiro Shadows Die Twice is a masterpiece of a game. It brings all of the frustration of Dark Souls and mixes it with all of the ambiance and appeal of a samurai game. It reminds me of playing Onimusha or Way of the Samurai yet perfectly blended in was Dark Soul’s art style and combat difficulty.
Rarely have I picked up a game and not been able to put it down recently, Devil May Cry 5? I’m still playing it, well that is to say I haven’t finished it yet. It’s fun, the story is nice, I just don’t feel as great a sense of satisfaction as I do with Sekiro. This game makes you earn the victory, but when you do you feel like a shinobi.
The story is compelling right away I want to know more about the nameless protagonist called “Wolf” by the man who found him. It brings to mind the anime Lone Wolf and Bear, which is based on an even older story. It would not be a leap to conclude the connection.
It seems hard not to compare Wolf to one of the main characters of Devil May Cry 5. Nero lost his arm and has a prosthetic replacement that you upgrade throughout the game. Wolf also has one arm that is a prosthetic and you upgrade it throughout the game. The similarities seem to end there however, though both games are very enjoyable.
If you have not had a chance to pick up Sekiro, what are you waiting for? It is very enjoyable!
